Maintenance of Horizontal Total Mixed Ration Feed Preparation Machines

I. Reducer Maintenance:

Replace the gear oil in the reducer after the new machine has been operating for 3 months; thereafter, replace the gear oil every six months. (We recommend that customers replace the winter L-CKD220 gear oil in October each year and the summer L-CKD320 gear oil in April.) Regularly check the oil level to prevent abnormal wear of components.

Amount of gear oil to be added to the horizontal feed mixer gearbox

15-kilowatt reducer, 18 kg, 22 liters

18.5 kW gearbox, 18 kg, 22 liters

22-kilowatt reducer, 25 kg, 30 liters

30-kilowatt reducer, 25 kg, 30 liters

37-kilowatt reducer, 50 kg, 59 liters

II. Inspect the blade:

Check the wear condition of the moving blades on the screw shaft of the mixing and blending impeller. If the blades become dull, immediately flip them over or replace them (the original blades have double-edged cutting surfaces that can be flipped for use on both sides). Under normal circumstances, single-shaft feed mixers require blade flipping or replacement after 300 hours of operation, while dual-shaft feed mixers need blade flipping or replacement after 200 hours of operation. Note: Once the blades are worn, they rely more heavily on the blade arms to stir the material, accelerating wear on the blade arms and increasing the load on the main shaft. This could potentially lead to motor burnout, gear damage in the gearbox, or even breakage of the main shaft’s end bearing.

3. Bearing Lubrication:

The spindle bearing housing needs to be lubricated with grease once every half month. Note: The bearing oil passages are very narrow; if you fail to lubricate them for an extended period, the oil in the passages will dry up, making it impossible to inject more grease later on.

IV. Hydraulic System Maintenance:

Regularly check whether the oil pipe fittings and fasteners are loose to prevent leaks and detachment. Replace approximately 6 liters of L-HV46 low-temperature anti-wear hydraulic oil annually. (In winter, ordinary hydraulic oil tends to freeze, and if the hydraulic oil freezes, the hydraulic pump will fail to operate.)

V. Special Attention:

Before starting work, briefly activate the switch and check whether the rotation direction of the mixing shaft matches the direction indicated by the label. If the rotation direction does not match the label, reverse the connection sequence of the main power supply cables. Then, start the feed mixer and run it empty for 2–3 minutes to ensure that all components are functioning properly before beginning the feeding process. (If the main shaft rotates in the wrong direction, it may become jammed, potentially causing the screw blades to collapse or the main shaft to shift out of position. If the screw blades collapse, the main shaft will no longer be able to feed the material forward; if the main shaft shifts out of position, it could lead to chain misalignment and damage. Pay special attention: Before restarting the machine after a power outage, be sure to confirm that the rotation direction is correct before adding any feed.)
